How to Know Your Purpose

'“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5

We are all called by God to fulfill a purpose in life. Nobody is here on earth by mistake or by accident. But God gave us a purpose since we were in our mother’s womb. So, If we allow God to lead us, we will be able to fulfill the purpose which He has called us for. It may not be an easy journey. But in the end we will have eternal live with God, if we successfully fulfilled our purpose here on earth.

Your Purpose Can Be Seen In 3 Areas Of Your Lives:

1. Through Your Spiritual Calling/Gift:

'And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], '
Ephesians 4:11

The Holy Spirit grants us the grace to practice these spiritual gifts. You can have one or more of them. But it is the Spirit that gives it according to the purpose of God in your life.

2. Through Society

Perfect examples of people in the bible that were great spiritually as well as socially were Joseph, David, Solomon, Daniel and many more. These men were men of God that also dominated society. for example, Joseph was a manager and interpreted dreams. What about David? He was a king and also an instrumentalist. And Daniel was an Advisor, Governor & also interpreted dreams. I believe that God gave us a purpose to contribute within society too. He wants us to have authority and dominance in the world through our purpose.

'Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26

3. Through Your Talents

Matthew 25:14-30 speaks about the parable of the talents. Talents are also a way to show the purpose of God through our lives. And it is possible to have multiple talents. And it is up to us to discover, develop and refine these talents in order to use them to honor and glorify God.

Signs That You Are Not Living In Your Purpose

  1. Living in sin – If you are living in sin it is a clear sign that you are not in the purpose of God for your life. Because God is light, which means He’s holy. And He does work in darkness (sin).
